Good morning

The village roosters happily woke us at 4am ensuring we wouldn’t miss our breakfast of eggs, pineapple and toast with red pectin spread. Our guide then enthusiastically announced, “today is easier! Only 5 km down a steep jungle short cut, but be careful as rain made trail slippery (think Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone).  Arriving at the bottom we boarded an open air pickup for a ride to a river for white water rafting (think Meryl Streep in River Wild). Next was lunch, a visit to a tribal village, stop at tea plantation to pick leaves and make green tea, then back to the hotel in Chiang Mai for bathes, dinner and a soft pillow in that order I think.
